140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (December 27)
So that does it. This is the final 140 Bars Or Less of the year. While many were shedding melancholic tears at the year's final days and others totally checked out because of holiday festivities, the news kept coming in to give a fitting end to one of the most divisive years in recent memory.
Best Album Covers Of 2014
In many ways, it's surprising that we're still doing a list like this in 2014, as we've reached a point where music has, almost, gone entirely digital. No one's actually buying physical albums, but we still see album artwork with each release, and we certainly had some compelling examples in 2014. Artists and labels continue to invest a lot of effort, and money, into the artwork they adjoin their releases with.
Lupe Fiasco Tweets Photo Of Himself In KKK Robes, Freddie Gibbs Responds [Update: Gibbs Apologizes]
Lupe Fiasco's taking a strange approach to the promotion of his upcoming album, Tetsuo & Youth. This afternoon, he tweeted a photo of himself in full KKK attire with the caption “The friend of my enemy is my enemy. Tetsuo & Youth 1/20/2015" (view it below), a still taken from his 2013 video "1234."
Hip-Hop & R&B Albums You Should Give Your Family For Christmas
We want everyone to love hip-hop just as much as we do. That goes not only for all the brothers and sisters out there, but the grandmas, grandpas, mothers and fathers out there too! It might not be the easiest thing to pick out a record for every family member, especially when personal preference is clouding your perception (no, your gandma won't like 2 Chainz). But this culture is eclectic, and we know it. There are tons of R&B and hip-hop records out there, so there has to be one for everybody in your family.
140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (November 28)
How did this week go? Not great. By another miracle of the justice system, Darren Wilson got away with murdering Michael Brown; a grand jury decided to not indict him. To put this in perspective, you need to be beyond reasonable doubt to prove a defendant is guilty. An indictment only requires suspicion. That jury didn't find suspicion with Brown suffering multiple shots. So you can see how the circumstance could cause some outrage within the hip-hop community. See them in 140 Bars Or Less.
Freddie Gibbs Says New Album "Lifestyles Of The Insane" Will Be Out Next Year
In hip-hop, rappers have historically aligned themselves with a number of types of lifestyles. There's Big L, who subverted that of the "Rich & Famous" for Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous, and of course Rich Gang, whose "Lifestyle" is omnipresent, if incoherent at times. Now Freddie Gibbs joins those ranks, titling his upcoming album Lifestyles Of The Insane.
Freddie Gibbs & Entourage Shot At Multiple Times In New York [Update: Gibbs Disses Jim Jones]
Freddie Gibbs saw a bit of drama last night after capping off a successful performance at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. After the show ended, the rapper was shot at multiple times although thankfully he suffered no significant injuries, but two members of his entourage can't say the same.
140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (October 11)
The good news is that this week saw the release of Flying Lotus' You're Dead and Tinashe Aquarius. One is arguably one of the top three albums of the year and the other is a really good R&B album. But good music doesn't stop the world. As such, rappers have to continue to do rapper things.
140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (September 26)
Last week saw the appraisal of one type of love and the destruction of another. Kendrick Lamar finally dropped the highly anticipated "i," and it raised more questions than hype. The song was a tribute to self-love, but he did so in a joint that sounds a bit more of an Andre 3000 song than a Lamar single. It's that #BaduBox, guys.
Freddie Gibbs Announces Tour
Freddie Gibbs has been behind two great releases this year: a collaborative album with Madlib called Piñata and a joint EP with The World's Freshest called The Tonite Show. Now, after returning from a European tour (awesomely titled the "Lord Frederick" tour), the Gary, Indiana rapper is prepared to play nine shows in the US and Canada for his new tour.

140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (September 12)
Breaking news: The NFL is corrupt! Because rappers wanting to be athletes and vice versa is sort of a running motif, a few have weighed in with their thoughts about the Ray Rice/NFL cover-up situation. Some made more sense than others.
Stream Statik Selektah's New Album "What Goes Around..."
Tomorrow, Statik Selektah will drop his new album What Goes Around on iTunes, but a day ahead of time, the Spotify stream is available.
140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (Aug. 15)
This hasn't been a great week in America. Beloved comedian and actor Robin Williams passed away under particularly tragic circumstances at the age of 63. Plus, we saw a blatant violation of the first amendment at the protests in Ferguson, Mo., where unarmed African-American male Mike Brown was slain by cops. Although rappers sometimes don't abide by normal people logic, they're still human beings in America. Some felt and reacted to the circumstances accordingly.
Freddie Gibbs Announces "The Lord Fredrick" European Tour
Freddie Gibbs is taking himself overseas for his "Lord Fredrick" tour. This tour announcement comes on the heels of his tour with Tech N9ne's Strange Music this summer, so he's definitely keeping himself occupied these days. The Baby Face Killa has announced two show dates in August, with a slew of dates in September. Gangsta Gibbs' European takeover begins August 30th in Scotland, and from there Gibbs will visit England, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France and more. The tour comes to a close on September 27th in Strasbourg, France.
Jeezy Talks Freddie Gibbs Beef [Update: Gibbs Responds To Jeezy's "Lies"]
Jeezy's Seen It All is less than a month away and the rapper is beginning to ramp up his press tour. Stopping in with Ebro, Miss Info & Laura Stylez at Hot 97, Jeezy discussed a multitude of topics ranging from his new single "Seen It All" to his interest in Nicole Murphy. Most headline-grabbing of all, however, was a brief discussion with the radio hosts about his long-lasting beef with former CTE signee Freddie Gibbs.
140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week (Aug. 1)
In an ideal world, Remy Ma would be in this edition of 140 Bars Or Less: Tweets Of The Week instead of being in jail for another week. But, then again, Remy Ma wouldn't have been serving time in the first place. Still, life goes on and the tweets still roll.
Jeezy Explains What Happened With Freddie Gibbs
When Jeezy first took Freddie Gibbs under his wing, it seemed like a match made in heaven. However, after some time under the CTE World imprint, Gibbs parted ways with Jeezy. While things seemed amicable at first, Gibbs launched numerous disses at Jeezy after some time had passed. The Atlanta rapper never responded, but in an interview with Elliott Wilson, he explained exactly why the two had to go their separate ways.
Stream Freddie Gibbs & The Worlds Freshest's New Album "The Tonite Show"
Fresh off teaming with Madlib for their Piñata LP, Gangsta Gibbs is back with another collaborative project. Originally, Freddie Gibbs and DJ Fresh, aka The Worlds Freshest, had their collaborative album, The Tonite Show, set for a May 13th release date, but for whatever reason decided to push up the album to today (5/9).
Big K.R.I.T., Freddie Gibbs, B.o.B And More Speak On The 20th Anniversary Of OutKast's "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik"
Though it may be overshadowed by the anniversary of Nas' Illmatic a week prior, OutKast's debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, turned 20 today. The landmark LP is said to be one of the main blueprints of Southern hip-hop, and to celebrate, Myspace gathered eight rappers who have been influenced by the album to share their memories of each track. Read excerpts from Big K.R.I.T., B.o.B, Bubba Sparxxx, David Banner, Freddie Gibbs, Gangsta Boo, Rittz and Trae Tha Truth's responses below. Big K.R.I.T. on "Crumblin' Erb":
