For starters, the decision-making process came down to a hung jury vote, with Lil Uzi's two concurrent singles matched up with Beast Coast's "Coast/Clear" in a toss-up for the few spots available. In the end, the stylistic overhaul the Pro Era faithful had undertaken was impossible to deny, as were "Sanguine Paradise" and "That’s A Rack," important steps for Lil Uzi Vert as he looks to find his bearings after a lengthy layoff.
Anderson .Paak repositioned himself after few months on the outside by one-upping his last project, with the arguably superior Ventura. The bar is set extremely high due to the rarified appearance of an ageless Andre 3000 on the album's opening number "Come Home." Elsewhere on the playlist, we've included music from Brockhampton's Kevin Abstract, who dig deep to proceed his best material to date. ScHoolboy Q also joined the fun, after initially pulling "CHopstix" from circulation out of respect for Nipsey Hussle. Lastly, Steve Lacy, the unsung hero and prominent songwriter from The Internet, reverts back to his solo endeavors on "N Side."
