Lil Durk's latest single is among the most self-aware of his career so far.

As Lil Durk gets older, his music has gotten more mature. There are still moments of levity, but years of personal growth and losing close friends have aged both him and his music. "Opportunist," the latest offering ahead of Durk's upcoming album Deep Thoughts, is another moment of reflection for the Chicago star. It's a very laid-back track, with R&B-inspired flourishes that sound like a Bryson Tiller or Polo G track. Durk sing-raps his way through his verses, matching the sound of the DJ Bandz-produced beat.

On "Opportunist," Durk covers familiar ground for anyone who considers themselves a fan of Chicago's ever-popular drill sound. He talks about street life, people dying, and the overall pain of "war." But, it's more mournful and reflective. He says he'd do anything to get his circle back, lamenting the way things have gone for him and those closest to him. The second verse is a short story, seemingly about some of his peers back home dying at the hands of a contract killer. "Killer asked for a bonus for what he did, I knew it was time to go," Durk says. Lil Durk has all but left the street life in the past, and tracks like this one show his growth as a man while he takes his place among rap's veterans. Stream "Opportunist" below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Yeah, play your role, sad to say we losin', bro, I hate the score
Him, him, him, him in the car, my Fantastic Four
Thang was on my mind right at that time, I wasn't takin' shows
All that killer s**t you n****s be talkin', you know it's time to show
Uh, yeah, time to show
Killer asked for a bonus for what he did, I knew it was time to go
