Tyga has agreed to pay C&J Management, his former management company, a $1.5 million settlement, TMZ reports. While the original lawsuit called for $4 million, the parties have agreed that $1.5 million will suffice, and can be paid in installments. These intsallments include a $250,000 payments made within 10 days of signing the settlement, 4 payments of $137,500, and finally a larger payment of $700,000, which is due in June 2019.
In their original suit, C&J took credit for "turning [Tyga] from a relative nobody to a world known superstar," as well as introducing the rapper to Birdman and the Cash Money team. C&J claim Tyga illegally fired them as his representatives in 2013, which is how the suit came about.
Tyga has expressed that he himself is owed money by his former label Cash Money. $12 million, in fact. In his interview on The Breakfast Club, Tyga claimed that, among other expenses, he was never paid in full for "Rack City," the 2011 single that reached No. 7 on the Hot 100 and has since been certified 4x platinum. With that being said, he has no plans to sue the label, at least not until Wayne's long-winded legal battle over similar issues is worked out. "I’m in a position to where I just want Wayne to get what he’s owed," he said. At the same time, a TMZ source argues that Tyga's hesitance to sue is indicative of his lack of a case: "What person says they won't sue if they're owed $12 million?"
The rapper has now found a more comfortable home at Kanye West's GOOD Music, which he spoke of in a recent cover story with HNHH. "[Kanye]'s a genius," he said. "You don't meet too many people like that, that give you that type of feeling."
Tyga recently suggested that he'd be releasing a more melodic album in the near future. “Y’all think Im playing that singing album coming soon,” he wrote on Twitter. Were this to come to fruition, Tyga would join the ranks of Young Thug (Beautiful Thugger Girls), Future (HNDRXX), and Chief Keef (Thot Breaker) in tapping into his R&B side this year.
