Twitter is often the place artists take their issues with one another to, but it can lead to promising connections as well. On Sunday, Chance The Rapper and Bruno Mars learned they were mutuals fans of one another on the platform, and they're already making plans to collaborate.
Holding a fan Q&A he titled #AskTheDragon, Bruno answered a number of questions about himself, but the most important one turned out to be "Who do you wanna collab with?" Bruno answered with one name: Chance The Rapper, even going as far as to tag the Chicago emcee in the post to know his stance. Strangely enough, it wasn't the mention that got Chance's attention but his answer to the question "why are you da shit?," replying "Jesus made me this way."
The good Christian man that he is, Chance immediately retweeted Bruno, which is when accidentally learned of his desire to collaborate. "Wait wtf. I just retweeted a gem off your page only to find out you rocking with the kid?!?" he wrote.
"Let's make it happen I already got choreo ideas," he added, already jumping to the video treatment of their potential collab.
One other interesting thing we learned from Bruno's Q&A was that he's been listening to Cardi B recently. The Bronx rapper's single "Bodak Yellow" charged into the Billboard Hot 100 top ten last week, pulling in one spot shy of Mars' own "That's What I Like." Bruno featured both Gucci Mane and PARTYNEXTDOOR on official remixes to the track. Could he be gearing up for a more rap-influenced album in the future? The "24k Magic" title track was basically a DJ Quik song after all.
As for Chance, after releasing three mixtapes over the last few years, he's hinted at releasing an official debut album. "I think I might actually sell this album," he said, referring to the fact that his last few releases were not technically for sale. "That's, like, a big step in itself. I kind of hate the fact that I can't chart, really. I can chart, but the way they have the streaming shit set up is weak as fuck."
