YesJulz has been batting away labels like "culture vulture" for a minute. Among her detractors, is one-time friend, Joe Budden. The two have beefed on and off for the past couple of years, with things returning to on-status back in January. However things heated up even more for Julz just this past month, when she went on the Easily Offended podcast and name-dropped two black females (this was all in an attempt to defend her own name, as well), Karen Civil and Scottie Beam, shading them and the work they do in the process. Julz also discussed her Joe Budden gripes in the same podcast. Thus, the "culture vulture" accusations have swiftly returned. Twitter has been up-in-arms about her off-the-cuff remarks regarding Civil and Beam, among other possibly-inflammatory things she said in the podcast-- such as alleging that Scottie Beam was planning to "jump" her.
For whatever reason, this drama has now boiled over to include Daniel Caesar. The popular singer decided to chime in, sending a message to his Instagram followers and speaking his mind during a drunken Instagram Live rant this week.
Canadian singer Daniel Caesar got a little tipsy last night and decided to speak on a few things that have been bothering him. He started off by telling everybody that he's "ready to get cancelled" before sending a message to the black people watching his stream. "I don't know which black people are in here but I want you guys to talk up right now," said Caesar. "Why are we being so mean to Julz? Why are we being so mean to white people right now? That's a serious question. Why is it that we're allowed to be disrespectful and rude to everybody else and when anybody else returns any type of energy to us -- that's not equality. I don't wanna be treated like I can't take a joke. I just went through the fucking Chappelle shit and I had to like, in the moment, acknowledge that I was being fucking sensitive."
The conversation got passionate with Daniel Caesar considering the fact that white people have "been mean" to black people in the past but he and his friends are all for "bridging the gap." Many social media users are offended by his speech while others are all for it. The rant was fueled by his feelings on the YesJulz vs. Joe Budden spat, with the artist speaking on Budden near the end. Which side do you stand on?
