The film is expected to dominate the box office unlike any other film.

Audiences have been awaiting the arrival of Avengers: Infinity War for months now. The film will debut in theatres on Friday, and early box office projections are anticipating a potentially historic opening weekend.

The MCU production is expected to gross somewhere between $225-$245 million during its three days of release, with a possibility of crossing the $250 million threshold. If so, the film could nab the highest opening weekend in cinematic history, surpassing the current record holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens with its $248 million debut back in December 2015.

Only five cinematic epics have been lucky enough to gross over $200 million within three days of release, with the first Avengers film nabbing the fourth position with a sizeable $207 million. Just below is Black Panther, which took in an equally impressive $202 million back in February.

Infinity War will pick up where Civil War left off, which effectively saw the superheroes divided and embroiled in a nasty dispute amongst one another. The ensemble cast must join forces alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to thwart Thanos' reign of terror on Earth.
