The Bears record holder assaulted his wife in June, could face 6 months in prison.

Per TMZ Sports, ex-Chicago Bears signal caller Erik Kramer is being charged with battery in a domestic violence case involving his now-estranged wife Courtney Baird. News of his violent conduct follows the discovery of a police report included in the divorce proceedings, due to commence later this month.

Baird claims Kramer lost his sh*t after she confronted him about an argument they left unanswered. The turning point as outlined by Baird, seems to have occurred when Kramer starting flinging household objects in her direction. Once authorities arrived on the scene, they subdued him and later charged him with suspicion of felony corporal injury to a spouse. Kramer was later discharged after posting a $50,000 bond.

Cops have since revised the conditions of the initial booking, and are slapping him with one count of misdemeanor battery for the incident, which could amount to 6 months in prison. On the items flung in her direction, Kramer is reported to have manhandled his soon-to-be ex-wife. While the very nature of the case remains unhinged until their scheduled court appearance at the end of the month, Baird has been granted an emergency "restraining order" protecting her from any retribution.

Erik Kramer enjoyed a 10-year-run in the NFL, including a five year stint with the Chicago Bears, where he holds the team's single-season record for passing yards and touchdown passes.
