Joey Bada$$ has been having a busy year, teaming up with new cats like XXXTentacion for an upcoming collaborative project and linking up with Flatbush Zombies on a standout track from one of the better albums of this year. While he is sure to discuss his "Vacation" with the Zombies during their talk today on the TIDAL podcast "47 Minutes," Joey still has time to think of his fans who have been through tough situations. For many, music is used as a form of escapism, leaving your reality for a brief moment to enjoy sonic masterpieces that transport you elsewhere. Recently embarking on his Amerikkkana Tour, Joey surprised one of his supporters with a one-of-a-kind gift.
The April 19 date of his tour took place in New York City and, near the end of the show, Joey invited a fan named Juan onto his stage to bring a moment of joy to his life. Noting that the fan had been going through "devastating times," it was only right for Joey to present Juan with a platinum plaque for his track "Devastated," which is all about overcoming life's struggles. After leading the crowd into a chant of the fan's name, Joey brought Juan backstage to chop it up with the rapper's team and figure out where he will place his new prized possession.
Hopefully, the platinum plaque doesn't end up on eBay in the next week, although Juan would surely make a lot of money selling the plaque. Video footage has been included below of the exchange via TMZ.
