Deadline has learned that OBB Pictures has green lighted a documentary/biography on (Young) Jeezy. OBB Pictures will produce the project in conjunction with YJ Productions, in their first production in the genre since undertaking the ESPN 30 for 30 film, Gonzo at the Derby narrated by Sean Penn.

OBB Pictures just opened a brand new music division overseen by co-founder Scott Ratner. Two other projects have been announced concurrently: My Outbreak Moment, a series documenting The Outbreak Tour which invariably gave many artists including Kendrick Lamar, The Chainsmokers, 21 Savage and Logic with their first taste of Nationwide exposure. The 2nd venture will be a parody of VH1's Behind the Music program called Liner Notes.

The Jeezy project may not have a title but Mandon Lovett has been reserved the directorial hot seat. Lovett is known primarily to hip hop fans as man behind WorldStar's The Field: Violence, Hip-Hop, and Hope in Chicago, so his selection seems to have been rendered with sensitivity to the subject.

Hip hop documentaries, read like anthropological specimen tests depending on who's pointing the camera at whom. In the case of Jeezy, there is too much relevant information for the project to go amiss: his two year stint in Boyz n da Hood under Bad Boy, the beef with Gucci Mane, and the evolution of his craft. Pick your poison.
