A bond verdict for Lil Durk didn't happen on Wednesday after the rapper appeared in court with his attorneys.

Lil Durk already beat his murder-for-hire charges, but next is his VICAR trial, which is set for August 2027. However, the rapper is currently seeking release as he awaits trial, though federal prosecutors may thwart his efforts. Yesterday, he and his legal team appeared in court to secure his bond, though the judge didn’t immediately rule on whether he should be released.

The request for his release has been taken into submission, and the judge will soon issue a written decision. Federal prosecutors argued that Durk shouldn’t be released. They accused Durk and his team of paying actors to act as protesters outside of the courthouse during his trial and leveraging celebrity connections to sway the court. Moreover, they argued that his not guilty verdict “does nothing to change the dangerousness or flight risk analysis,” per Complex.

Drew Findling & Brian Steel Push Back Against Prosecutors

Both Drew Findling and Brian Steel condemned the government for trying to push back on the bond proposal, especially since he was found not guilty of the murder-for-hire charges.

“There is a little bit of hypocrisy here. The Government is unwilling to accept…I’m embarrassed for them. Those were well-informed jurors. The statements in this case pale in comparison to PW1 & PW2. There were attempts on the two cooperating witnesses to communicate with each other. Trying to convict with Mr. Grant (OTF Vonnie). He was a disgrace,” Findling reportedly said, per Michael Blackshire.

Meanwhile, Brian Steel said Durk shouldn’t be behind bars as he awaits trial next August, stating that it’s the counsel’s fault for the delay when Durk would’ve wanted to have the trial as soon as possible.

“They checked his cell twice in one day. He had to be researched, shackled, and had an invasive body cavity search. I didn’t want him to be put in the hole. When I I think of America, liberty is protected for trial. His next trail is not until next August. That is not Mr. Banks fault. That’s the fault of counsel, who couldn’t work on a date until next August. Another year of waiting while imprisoned, that’s unimaginable. If it was up to him (Lil Durk). He would have a trial now,” Michael Blackshire reported Steel saying.
