Wiz Khalifa received some good news in his Romanian illegal possession of a risk drug case. Back in December of 2025, the rapper was sentenced to nine months in prison following an appeal from DIICOT (Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism). The artist had originally been hit with a small fine of 3,600 lei, although during the appeals process, Wiz got hit with his sentence as well as an enforcement warrant.
On Tuesday, however, a Bucharest court decided to annul the sentence and the ensuing warrant, according to AllHipHop. Not only was the sentence overturned, but the ruling itself was also struck from the record. Now, DIICOT is appealing all over again, and the case is going back to where it was when the criminal fine was first handed down.
Wiz Khalifa will have a new hearing on November 12. It is here that DIICOT will look to make its appeal arguments all over again. Given this information, it should be made crystal clear that Wiz has not been acquitted. The case is still ongoing, although there is no doubt he has picked up a legal victory here.
Wiz Khalifa Gets Some Good News
For those who may not remember, Khalifa's legal troubles began during a performance at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinesti on July 13, 2024. The artist smoked on stage, and this immediately led to a deeper investigation. Wiz was subsequently accused of possessing 18.53 grams of cannabis. Subsequently, he was charged with illegal possession of a risk drug.
Wiz Khalifa has been fighting this case for over two years, and with this latest ruling, the process will continue. However, he can now rest easy knowing the nine-month sentence has been wiped out, at least for the time being.
