Yella Beezy's trial has officially began.

Yella Beezy’s capital murder trial has officially started. According to CBS, the jury selection process has been completed after an eight-hour process that finalized twelve jurors and three alternates. The attorneys for the government and the rapper grilled the potential jurors throughout the day about their background and potential biases.

Evidently, there were a few individuals who weren’t qualified to sit on the jury. Several potential jurors were removed from the pool because of charges related to weapons. More notably, one person was disqualified after revealing that the trial would weigh too heavily on his conscience.

The trial surrounds allegations that Yella Beezy hired the shooter who killed Mo3. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Yella Beezy's Trial Begins

Kewon White has already been convicted of capital murder for the ambush shooting of Mo3. The rapper was chased down on Interstate 35E in Dallas before he was shot and killed in broad daylight. White also denied being paid by Yella Beezy to carry out the shooting.

Yella Beezy’s trial was pushed back several times before the jury selection began, partially due to the availability of the witnesses. However, one of the most contentious parts of the case is that Beezy’s rap lyrics are supposed to be included as evidence. This has been a controversial practice that many have contested in recent years, especially in the case of Lil Durk and Young Thug’s trials.

Opening statements for the trial are expected to begin today (October 27th). The judge indicated that they anticipate the trial to last between two and three weeks. We will continue to keep you posted on any further updates surrounding Yella Beezy’s trial.
