With some on the internet bashing Jay-Z for his Super Bowl Halftime Show decision, Stephen A. Smith has chosen a different path.

Stephen A. Smith has been in the news quite a bit this week following his meeting at the White House. Much has been made of his associations with President Donald Trump and other Republican lawmakers.

However, on his show this week, Smith found himself divulging on a different hot-button topic. Of course, we are talking about the news that Jay-Z is going to do the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

There have been lots of detractors in the aftermath of this news. Many are feeling as though the decision is self-serving and undeserved. Few positive opinions have been publicly shared on all this, although Stephen A. is looking to change that.

Smith believes that this is very much a good thing. He believes Jay-Z is one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. Furthermore, he believes his associations and collaborations will make for some truly extraordinary guest appearances.

This is certainly a glass-half-full approach to the situation. While others have been extremely negative, Smith is going in a positive direction. The pundit has never shied away from having a contrarian take, although it's not like this is some sort of outlandish position.

It is true that Jay-Z has hits, and it is true that he can bring out some of the biggest pop stars of all time. However, some are already going into the performance with a heavy dose of skepticism, which could be an issue down the line.

Either way, the NFL has yet to make the Jay-Z announcement official. Given the public scrutiny, some conversations could be had behind the scenes. For now, all one can do is speculate.
