With JÄY-Z set to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, late night hosts like Jimmy Fallon are getting their licks in.

JÄY-Z's decision to appoint himself as the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer for next year has certainly caused a stir online. While the NFL has yet to confirm this decision, sources close to the situation are claiming that it is, indeed, true.

The reactions have been strong, and there are many out there who feel like this is all self-serving. There are plenty of others who actually like the move. After all, JÄY-Z is a legend, and he has plenty of hits to go around. Furthermore, he has some blockbuster collaborators who could help him during the set.

Unfortunately, Jimmy Fallon's latest monologue may have just clued us all in to how the general public feels. Those who watch late-night television are also the same people who watch the Super Bowl en masse. When Fallon mentioned JÄY-Z's decision during his opening monologue on The Tonight Show, there were laughs and groans in the crowd.

Fallon then went on to make JÄY-Z the butt of the joke, stating that he probably had a short conversation with himself.

JÄY-Z Roasted On The Tonight Show

This is perhaps the most damning reaction to the JÄY-Z news. While there are plenty of haters on X who make their voices heard, oftentimes, those folks don't matter. They are simply hating just for the sake of getting likes on social media.

However, when the late-night audience is laughing at you, then there is certainly something wrong. One could make the argument that this isn't a hip-hop audience and therefore, they don't know any better. While this is certainly true, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is supposed to appeal to as many people as possible.

If the people at home watching don't know the songs, and are already going in with a closed mind, then the NFL could be in trouble.
