Jordan Brand has a lot of Space Jam surprises this fall, and a new one just appeared. An unreleased Air Jordan 11 GS "Green Screen" sample was shown in Los Angeles.
It was on display at the Air Jordan Space Jam space, where Jordan Brand revealed its full 30th anniversary collection. This pair never made the final cut.
Overall, the sample looks very different from the retail version. The final "Green Screen" 11 goes all in on green suede and nubuck. The kids' sample takes a more traditional route.
It has a patent leather mudguard and an icy, see-through outsole. Those are the details most fans picture when they think of an Air Jordan 11.
However, the sample made it far enough to be produced. That means Jordan Brand tested the idea in a real pair before changing course.
Of course, this is not the only concept that did not make it. There was also the early "Galaxy" version was also set to drop, but it was officially cancelled. Neither of these pairs will release to the public. The retail "Green Screen" 11 is still on track for November, with an all-green look and a glow-in-the-dark outsole.
Air Jordan 11 GS “Green Screen” Sample
Samples like this give fans a look at Jordan Brand's creative process. Many ideas are tested for each collection, and only a few reach stores.
The "Green Screen" idea comes from behind-the-scenes footage of Michael Jordan filming in front of a green backdrop. It is a clever way to celebrate how the movie was made.
Kids are not left out of the anniversary. The collection includes an Air Jordan 1 Low made for younger fans. The original "Space Jam" 11 also returns in full family sizing on December 12th.
As for the GS "Green Screen," it remains a what-if. Fans who want a green Air Jordan 11 will have to look at the adult pair. Overall it is always interesting to see what almost happened. We will keep watching for more Space Jam release information.
