Gunna is entering a new era as an independent artist ahead of his new album "Splurge," and SB The Label is his new flagship.

It's been a long road for Gunna as one of hip-hop's biggest current stars. It took the 33-year-old from the early days to the YSL rise and fall, and beyond. Now, after the release of his new song "Pop It" and ahead of his upcoming new album Splurge, he took another big step in his career: the launch of his new music imprint, SB The Label.

According to Variety, SB (which seems to stand for "Shady Baby"), is a partner of Atlantic Music Group. The Atlanta rapper will act as its CEO. "SB the Label represents the beginning of a new chapter for me," he reportedly stated. "It only felt right to start that chapter alongside my brothers Casper Bluff, Nechie, and Dracc. [They] are the first artists signed to the label. For me, this is about stepping into a new role, expanding what I can create, and building something that represents where I’m headed next."

Furthermore, this expands on Wunna's relationship with Warner Music Group. It began with the YSL signing under 300 Entertainment and Atlantic Records. Rayna Bass and Selim Bouab, co-presidents of 300 and Atlantic's Hip-Hop, R&B and Global Music division, reportedly hopped on SB to support.

"We’ve watched Gunna grow into not only one of his generation’s defining artists, but also a true leader as an entrepreneur and executive," the two reportedly stated. "SB the Label is a natural extension of his vision. We’re honored that he's entrusted 300 Entertainment/Atlantic Music Group as his partner."

Gunna's SB The Label

"It’s impossible to overstate Gunna’s influence on this generation of hip-hop and music as a whole," Elliot Grainge, Atlantic Music Group's CEO and chairman, reportedly stated. "We’re grateful and honored that he’s chosen AMG as his partner to bring this endeavor to music fans."

This follows up Gunna's long history of tension and conflict concerning YSL and others. This began with his plea deal in the collective's RICO case. Later, it devolved into feuds with Young Thug, Lil Baby, and other former collaborators.

Still, despite all that drama, Gunna's been having some great years, whether within or beyond his musical focus. Hopefully this launch of SB The Label yields even more success for him.
