Combs’ clemency push reportedly included help from Mike Tyson, who says he personally passed a letter along to the president.

Getting a message to the White House is one thing. Having Mike Tyson personally carry it there is another. Sean “Diddy” Combs apparently called on his longtime friend for exactly that favor while pursuing presidential clemency, and Tyson now confirms he followed through.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Tyson said he has spoken with Combs since the Bad Boy founder began serving his federal prison sentence. Asked whether the two remain close, the former heavyweight champion said he is “friendly with Puff,” then revealed what Combs requested of him.

“He wanted me to give a letter to the president,” Tyson said. When Cohen asked whether he actually delivered it, Tyson answered, “I did what he told me to do, yeah,” according to USA Today. The boxer has known Trump for decades, with their relationship stretching back to Tyson’s championship years and Trump’s involvement in promoting major fights in Atlantic City.

Mike Tyson Questions Diddy’s Prosecution

Tyson also made his feelings about Combs’ criminal case clear. He said he was surprised by how aggressively prosecutors pursued his friend and pointed to the Mann Act's age, calling it a “110-year-old rule.” Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act. Jurors acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. He was later sentenced to 50 months in federal prison.

His pursuit of clemency has hardly been a secret. One of Combs’ attorneys previously confirmed that members of his team had approached the Trump administration about a pardon. Trump has also acknowledged being asked about Combs' clemency, though his public response was far from enthusiastic. He recalled once being friendly with the mogul but said their relationship changed after he entered politics, suggesting that history could weigh against a pardon.

Combs remains incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey while appealing his conviction and sentence. Tyson may have done his part by getting the letter to Trump, but the decision now rests with a president who has already expressed reservations about granting Combs clemency.
