Da’Vinchi has been all over the timeline recently for his appearance on The Funky Friday podcast but it was his comments on the trajectory of BMF that caught the attention of 50 Cent. During the interview, the actor who played Terry “Southwest T” Flenory admitted that his co-star, Lil Meech, was the reason why their hit show was ultimately cancelled.
Evidently, the public comment brought forth a strong co-sign from 50 Cent, whose issues with Lil Meech and his father, Big Meech, are well-documented.
“No lies detected Meme was throwing up at weapons test because he was high. Spent all his money pretending to be his dad off camera, and kept getting in trouble im bailing him out of jail to get him on set to shoot, and snitching on his friends,” 50 Cent wrote.
50 Cent Co-Signs Da'Vinchi's Comments On Big Meech
During the interview, Da’Vinchi said that the show likely would have continued had it not been for Lil Meech’s behavior off set.
“I think that Curtis Jackson’s biggest thing was that it was really hard to contain Demetrius Flennory Jr.,” he said, adding that he has nothing but love for his former co-star. “You was like a private school kid, went to college, figuring life out, and now, your life just blew up. I don’t know what that’s like, and I can not sit here and say if I was in a situation, I would have done better.”
BMF had a strong four-season run, though the rumors about its run were plagued by external factors, it seems. Lil Meech’s off-set controversies and public feud with 50 Cent, which became an extension of his father’s issues with Fif, appeared to contribute to the issue. However, Deadline previously reported that 50’s feud with Big Meech wasn’t the reason for the cancellation, though it did create unease among the cast and crew about how long the show would go on. At the time, they suggested that Starz's CEO planned to save money on content by creating new shows rather than sustaining their current roster of series since they become more expensive over time.
