Opium took over ComplexCon this year with a stacked list of performances for last night (Saturday, October 3) and today (Sunday, October 4). Ken Carson brought Playboi Carti out during his headlining set, who is one of the artistic directors for the convention. However, their performance (along with sets from ApolloRed1, Homixide Gang, and DJ Moon) drew controversy because it followed their entourage's alleged fight earlier on Saturday, which led to LUCKI suffering a neck laceration.
Some fans were quick to criticize the concert's occurrence due to the serious situation and security concerns, while others don't understand where the backlash is coming from. After all, if the situation cleared up and there wasn't any further security risk, why cancel the shows? On the other hand, folks criticizing the decision to move forward were defending the Chicago rapper against Opium, while the opposing side called out unnecessary backlash.
We will see if any further details emerge surrounding this situation. In the meantime, the Whole Lotta Red artist will still perform at ComplexCon tonight if everything goes according to the current schedule, along with Destroy Lonely and F1lthy.
LUCKI Fight
To be clear, no details have emerged at press time confirming the Opium camp had any sort of involvement in what happened to LUCKI. All fans have to go by are rumors and eyewitness accounts, but no confirmation on what actually happened or who was involved. Also, videos from the altercation in the parking lot show Carti observing the whole fight from his car.
For those unaware, LUCKI and Playboi Carti had social media beef flare up a few years ago. The former had put up an online post which the latter allegedly interpreted as a sneak diss. They seemed to squash their issues after a while, which led to a lot of confusion from fans over this recent incident.
But again, no one knows what exactly happened at press time. LUCKI relayed via Instagram DMs that he was "good," and posted a video to his IG Story to seemingly confirm this. We'll see if anyone involved or accused here speaks out about the incident, or if fans get more clarification.
