LUCKI attended ComplexCon yesterday (Saturday, October 3) and walked away with a neck laceration following an alleged altercation with Playboi Carti's camp. He fortunately seems to have recovered well after the incident, but the whole situation has led to scrutiny from folks like DJ Akademiks.
In a livestream clip with Trap Lore Ross caught by CY Chels on Twitter, Akademiks explained why he thinks the Chicago rapper should take this as a wake-up call. In fact, he extended this wake-up call to other artists in Los Angeles, arguing LUCKI erred in attending and not having more security.
"LUCKI was out of pocket," Ak argued. "I rock with LUCKI, but I got to call a spade a spade." He went on to talk about issues with security, organizing, and alleged gang affiliations in L.A., recalling earlier confrontations involving 6ix9ine at the ComplexCon in Long Beach, which is close enough in his view.
DJ Akademiks also said security was "lolly-gagging" at the artist entry point and beyond at the convention. He spoke on his own experience and approach to security, and revealed he saw LUCKI at the convention.
Playboi Carti & LUCKI Beef
"LUCKI not booked for nothing, LUCKI just over there trying to f**k with the fans," Ak remarked. "When I walked in, I seen LUCKI, but he's lolly-gagging... I could tell he's chilling. Here's why I said he got to move a little bit better... Bro, look at the lineup. Ken Carson is tonight, and the rest of the Opium n***as is tomorrow with goddamn Playboi Carti... You think Carti ain't gon' have 100 n***as? You're there with four people, you're not a headliner, you're not even really booked. So Complex is treating you like whatever now... If you not cool with the YVL n***as, you don't want to be at this festival."
For those unaware, Playboi Carti and LUCKI had social media beef a few years ago, but they seemed to squash it soon after. As such, fans have expressed a lot of confusion over this situation.
To be clear, nothing has confirmed the fight happened between the artist's camps at press time. The Los Angeles Police Department is reportedly investigating the situation as attempted murder, with no suspects or arrests yet.
