With Drake having such a massive year, maybe this will finally mark his return to Coachella after nine years away from the stage.

Drake fans continue to feast in 2026. He just dropped his FOMO deluxe for HABIBTI after releasing its accompanying short film and two other albums this year. All of this is building up momentum for what may be a return to the Coachella stage, as reported by HITS Daily Double.

"With HABIBTI (FOMO) dropping, OVO/Republic’s chart-chomping megastar—who’s said to be in the Coachella discussion—seizes the spotlight again, and “Texas” comes to Toronto," the publication published on their site today (Friday, October 2). With this, OVO fans immediately got excited, as this also follows confirmations of a Drake tour coming next year.

As such, it feels like all the hype would make for a pretty significant and opportune moment to go back to Indio, California for a headlining slot. But the Toronto superstar hasn't been there in a while.

Drake's Coachella History

He reportedly first appeared during Jhené Aiko's set in 2014, headlined in 2015 (and had an infamous onstage kiss with Madonna), and guested during Future's set in 2017. However, the 6ix God hasn't returned in nine years, and it's not like his profile diminished in any way.

So while he may be in the "discussion" if this report is accurate, some fans believe he would still turn it down. With a tour slated for 2027, though, it wouldn't be a big loss.

Drake's Coachella slots have been controversial for reasons that have nothing to do with him or the performance itself. Back in 2017, he called out a country club near the festival for racial profiling.

Elsewhere, Drake is still breaking records and seeing a lot of success with the ICEMAN trilogy and its biggest hits. It's a wave he will continue to ride into next year, and fans can't wait for the chance to witness it live. Whether it will actually be at Coachella or not, though, is something we will only know once the festival announces its official lineup.

In recent years, the OVO mogul has rocked three nights at the Wireless Festival in the U.K. and faced boos at the Camp Flog Gnaw Festival. It's up in the air what a hypothetical headlining Coachella set would look like, but we doubt it would be anything less than massive and celebrated with all this momentum.

But more specifically, he digs for the deeper side of hip-hop conversations, whether that’s the “death” of the genre in 2023, the lyrical and parasocial intricacies of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, or the many moving parts of the Young Thug and YSL RICO case. Beyond engaging and breaking news coverage, Gabriel makes the most out of his concert obsessions, reviewing and recapping festivals like Rolling Loud Miami and Camp Flog Gnaw. He’s also developed a strong editorial voice through album reviews, think-pieces, and interviews with some of the genre’s brightest upstarts and most enduring obscured gems like Homeboy Sandman, Bktherula, Bas, and Devin Malik.
