Remy Ma is ready to let the music speak for itself after years of drama, as she dropped her new Alimony EP today (Friday, September 25). A lot of the conversation around the project (and its consistent references to marriage) has to do with Papoose, as they are going through a very messy divorce process right now. But fans also caught a reference to another infamous chapter in Remy's story: the Nicki Minaj beef.
On the EP's opener "Rem The Pen," the New York star name-drops a few fellow femcees she's a fan of, such as Cardi B and Lil' Kim. But it was the next bar that got fans curious: "Me and Nicki will probably never speak again / But even that b***h told y’all I got a pen."
Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma's beef has a few chapters to it, namely its initial flare-up around 2007 and its full-on explosion in 2017 despite tensions having cooled off in years prior. These days, they haven't done much else to continue the history beyond some coincidental and more casual references here and there, particularly on Remy's part. While there's certainly stronger drama around this release, this detail is one part that we might never get full answers or reconciliations to.

Elsewhere, Remy Ma issued a statement about Alimony and her intent with the project. "I wanted this project to feel like a conversation between women," she stated. "We’ve all had those moments where you call your girls, look at yourself in the mirror, and say, 'Girl, what are we doing?' Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you learn, but you keep moving. Music has always been a place where I can express myself, and right now I’m really enjoying creating again. I want women to hear this, have fun with it, and see a little bit of themselves in it."
Meanwhile, Papoose is fueling the Remy Ma fire, recently sharing alleged texts with a divorce attorney to tell his side of the narrative. Most fans are waiting on this dynamic for updates. But maybe Nicki will also step in soon to comment on this name-drop.
