The Nike Kobe 8 Protro "Shanghai Fireworks" releases later this November, reviving a 2013 China exclusive.

The Nike Kobe 8 Protro "Shanghai Fireworks" is officially going global. It releases November 11th for $200, and it has the style code of IO6259-800.

This colorway originally dropped back in 2013 as a China-only exclusive. It launched alongside Kobe's preseason trip overseas with the Lakers, tying directly into his long history of promotional tours in the country. That limited availability turned it into one of the more sought-after Kobe 8 pairs among collectors.

A vibrant mesh upper features some swirling orange, crimson, and yellow graphics meant to resemble fireworks lighting up a night sky. Also a black Swoosh cuts through the design for contrast. Further, Kobe's signature sheath logo sits on the tongue.

As a Protro release, the shoe also gets some real updates underfoot. A drop-in foam midsole sits inside a Phylon carrier, paired with an exposed carbon fiber shank plate for support. A translucent outsole rounds things out, keeping the modern build consistent with other recent Kobe 8 Protros.

Kobe's China-exclusive releases have long been some of the hardest pairs to track down. Limited print runs and overseas-only distribution kept plenty of these colorways out of reach for years.

"Shanghai Fireworks" has stayed one of the more talked-about examples from that era. Its bold, colorful graphics made it stand out even among Kobe's already loud signature line.

Bringing it back through the wider Protro platform changes that access entirely. Further, all of the collectors who missed the original China release finally get a real shot at this one.

Nike has leaned into globalizing regional exclusives more often through the Protro line lately. Expect more archive-deep colorways like this to keep surfacing as that trend continues.

At $200, it lands right in line with other recent Kobe 8 Protro pricing. Overall, this release brings back over a decade of history, and fans can finally cop a pair come this November.
