Jordan Brand VP Global Footwear Dominique Debnam debuted the Jordan Vail at the Black Footwear Forum in Detroit. This is an entirely new lifestyle silhouette. No release date or pricing has been confirmed yet.
Debnam wore the shoe on stage alongside The Whitaker Group's James Whitner and Dr. D'Wayne Edwards. The panel focused on powering the sneaker community through collaboration. Still, plenty of attention shifted straight to what was on Debnam's feet.
The Vail comes in a red and black colorway here, echoing Jordan Brand's classic Bulls palette. A textured one-piece upper covers most of the shoe, with dark red accents striping diagonally across it. A loose, bootie-style black cradle wraps around the ankle for fit.
The shape keeps some basketball DNA despite being positioned as a lifestyle release. A mid-cut build houses that interior bootie, complete with a compressed ankle sleeve. Underfoot, the sole stays thin and flat, skipping the heavier cushioning typically seen on Jordan basketball models.
Jordan Brand hasn't officially announced the Vail yet, so plenty of details remain unknown for now.
The All New Jordan Vail Get Revealed
The Vail leans into a considerably more minimal, fashion-forward look than most Jordan releases. Rather than adapting an existing basketball shoe for casual wear, it appears built from a lifestyle-first mindset instead. That's a different approach than how Jordan Brand usually introduces new silhouettes.
There's also a smaller design detail worth noting. Jordan Brand's Heir Series 2 already includes a heel-mounted hair tie for players tying their hair back before tipoff. The Vail seems to fold that same idea directly into its lacing system rather than adding it as a separate accessory.
Debuting a shoe this way, on an industry panel rather than through a traditional campaign, says something too. It placed the Vail's first look inside a space centered on Black professionals and leadership within footwear. With no official word yet from Jordan Brand, expect more details on the Vail to surface as buzz around it continues building.
