The Game accompanied Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, and others to ceremonially give Kendrick Lamar the West Coast torch nearly 15 years ago. But since then, Game's dynamic with Kendrick has fallen under much scrutiny, whether it's for the former's friendship with Drake or long-standing speculation about a falling out. TDE talent manager and entrepreneur Akeem "Keem" Smith recently gave more context to these tensions, and that West Coast torch-passing is allegedly key.
As caught by Chilling With Monie on Twitter, Keem was on his "Truth In The Details" stream when he addressed this history between the Compton rappers. He seemingly said Game tried to "pop up" on Dr. Dre looking for record clearances, and this seems to have followed the torch-passing per Keem's telling. Keem also clarified that a lot of these stories are from Stat Quo.
"He said Game was outside the studio... 'Dre! Come on, I know you like that freestyle, this hot s**t I'm spitting,'" he remarked. "He said they wasn't letting him in the studio. They wasn't f***ing with it. They said Dre planned on shelving Game. This is what Stat Quo said..."
Then, Keem spoke on the torch-passing itself, calling it a beautiful moment. "But I don't think everybody was on board that showed up," he claimed. "This is Stat's words again..."
The Game & Kendrick Lamar's Beef
The specific timeline of these events hasn't been confirmed, including Game's alleged studio situation with Dre. Still, some folks like Keem believe there's a lot of history here that doesn't have much to do with The Game's friendship with Drake.
On the other hand, there are some fans who believe that was the ultimate final straw, something Top Dawg recently seemed to suggest as well. Although The Game hasn't explicitly dissed Kendrick Lamar, it's clear both sides are not on the same page when it comes to their feud.
We will see if either side explicitly speaks out about this again, which Game has done on occasion. But not a peep out of K.Dot. At this point, fans are just looking for more excuses to pit both artists against each other and keep debating.
