Travis gives some context behind the album and confirms a Sheck Wes feature.
Astroworld finally has a release date and thankfully for us all, we don't have to wait too much longer. After the arrival of several massive Travis heads popping up around the country, there was bound to be an announcement eventually and La Flame came through this morning by confirming an August 3 release and sharing a dope trailer, unveiling "Stargazing" in the process. With the kids hungry for new Travis Scott, Friday is gearing up to be insane for album drops with YG and Mac Miller dropping on the same day. The man of the hour called into Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show to reveal some details about the album, informing us all of what we can expect.
Alongside the announcement that his show, .wav Radio, is returning with unreleased music soon, Cactus Jack confirmed Sheck Wes as one of the features on the project. Originally scheduled to be his second studio album, Trav says that Astroworld has been planned since Rodeo, noting, "My whole idea was, if you locked into Rodeo, you definitely locked into Astroworld. I’m just finishing the saga I started on my first album. This is supposed to be my second album. I had to go quick, because like I said, I had all these ideas, I just had to get off real quick, but now I’m finally back home with Astroworld."
Phoning in while he was on the way to Mike Dean's studio, La Flame wanted to give things another listen, exposing himself as somewhat of a perfectionist. "The album is finished, of course. Me and Mike, we go all the way into the final day. I just like listening to this over and over, and just like, perfecting the vibe. I don’t like leaving the studio until this shit be on the neck," said Travis.
