Lupe Fiasco's been busy lately with ventures outside of music. It's unfortunate considering how much of a dope emcee he is. He announced a few weeks back that he won't be putting out a new album this year and shortly after, it was reported that he launched a production company in China. While he may not be receiving a new project from him, he dropped off a new freestyle today in respect of Lil B.
Lupe Fiasco's tackles Jay-Z's "Marcy Me" beat on his latest freestyle, "All While Doing A Rubik's Cube One-Handed." The freestyle was inspired by Lil B's recent incident at Rolling Loud festival. The Chicago emcee opens up the track with a snippet from Lil B's speech on stage after he was jumped by A Boogie With The Hoodie and PnB Rock's crew. Before jumping into the track, Lupe even gives Lil B a shout out, saying "Protect Lil B at all cost." He later jumps into the track with his slick wordplay and clean flow, addressing several political themes including Trump's and Obama's presidency. It's a short little freestyle but it's also new music from Lupe which is always nice to see come across the timeline.
Earlier this year, Lupe dropped off his album DROGAS Light. While many of his fans appreciated a new project from him, he didn't seem to pleased with the overall outcome of the project. He said the album was released with the intention of fulfilling his contractual agreements with Atlantic Records and that the project was "almost like a compilation of old-ass songs we had kinda just laying around." He later said DROGAS was a masterpiece but unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be able to make that judgement on our own any time soon.
