On Saturday night, Summer Walker graced the stage of the Something In The Water Music Festival with an addition of special guests. Summer brought out St Louis rapper Sexxy Redd, in a performance of her single "Pound Town." Since its release in February, "Pound Town" has become a viral success. With the song's frequent Tik Tok use, the song's fun dynamic allows it to make an early entry to becoming a summer anthem. Sexxy Redd brought the energy by taking her heels off and joining Summer in twerking on stage.
Something In The Water is an annual music festival created by Pharrell Williams. The first one took place in 2019 and has since become annual. This festival takes place in Pharell's hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia. This year, the lineup includes performances from Usher, Babyface Ray, Chloe X Halle, Tyler the Creator, Kid Cudi, Wu-tang Clan, Lil Wayne, and many more.
Summer Walker & Sexxy Red Take The Stage
Summer's performance isn't the first time she and Sexxy Red have collaborated. The two have begun to become a dynamic duo recently. In November, Sexxy Red began to make waves after being featured on Summer's viral song "Sense That Dat Gave You." The video features a pregnant Summer alongside Sexxy Red spontaneously linking up at a gas station with a group of friends. The Single generated a series of memes on Instagram and Tik Tok.
In addition, Summer celebrated her 27th birthday alongside her star-studded friend group last month. Both Sexxy Red and Sukihana are among her group of friends. Furthermore, fans have expressed their happiness toward Summer, and appear to becoming more outgoing on stage. In the past, Summer has vocalized her struggles with her noticeable social anxiety. One of these instances occurred during her acceptance speech during the 2019 Soul Train Awards. Summer appeared to be anxious as she gives a short speech before leaving the stage. Lastly, the Something In The Water Festival ended this past Sunday. Sexxy Red is set to perform at two more festivals this summer including Rolling Loud Miami and Lyrical Lemonade's Summer Smash Festival this Summer.
