DMV rapper Shy Glizzy hits us before the weekend with his new track "Take Me Away" produced by TM88.
The song comes off of his forthcoming EP Quiet Storm, and is dedicated to his fallen friend 30 Glizzy who passed away at the beginning of the month. 30 was found in a South Baltimore alley, unresponsive with multiple gun wounds to his torso.
The song starts off with an man lending spoken words in Arabic where Shy comes in strong right after.
Shy acknowledges the streets harsh realities and its painful consequences throughout the new track. A notable line being, "It's a war started outside / Don't wanna talk about, but somebody might die / Ain't wanna tell you about it because I know you might cry."
Shy has definitely been making moves behind the scenes and has us waiting on his next project. One of his best past collaborations would have to be his verse on Goldlink's "Crew" where he raps, "Stop that madness, I'm a savage, in traffic with MAC 11’s/ Baddest bitch and she Spanish, I fly her to Calabasas/ We get nasty, I'm her daddy, she know a nigga ain't average/ Ain't nothin' wrong with fake asses, bitch, turn around, let's make magic."
Before that Shy dropped a video treatment for his track "One" that sees him stunting in a bougie mansion surrounded by a bunch of gyals on top of some enticing colour treatment. He raps, "Remember back when all I used to do was hit licks/ All a nigga really wanted was to get rich/ Oh you ain’t fucking with the gang?, then suck a full clip/ fuck what they talking bout, I’m really with that bullshit/ Fresh Prince, I walk up in this bitch like Will Smith."
If you didn't know by now, Shy really gained attention after his track "Awwsome" was swallowed by the internet as a big tune. It came off his 2014 mixtape Young Jefe that boasted features from Young Thug and Young Scooter.
