It had been rumored that it was Jay's suspected extramarital relationship with Roy that led Solange to assault him in their infamous elevator scuffle in 2014, and Roy didn't do herself any favors when she posted an Instagram that mentioned her "good hair" on the same night as Lemonade's release, thus aligning herself with the villainous "Becky with the good hair," whom Bey mentioned on the track "Sorry."
Soon after the BeyHive's attack, Roy released a statement that denied any implication that she might be the Becky in question: "There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally." Still, she has remained a leading suspect (along with Rita Ora), and she will likely continue to be targeted by Beyonce fans in light of recent reports claiming that Roy's email has been hacked into and that some potentially compromising information (perhaps involving her past relations with Jay Z) has been stolen.
The report comes from London publication The Sun, who alleged, via an unnamed source, that Roy has "confided in friends about the stolen emails." "She has no idea how they've been swiped but is aware of how much harm they can cause," said the source.
The same source claims that Roy had intended to be playfully provocative when she put up the Instagram post that suspiciously referenced Lemonade, but upon seeing the extent of the online backlash, she wished to quickly distance herself from the situation. In the wake of the allegedly stolen emails, Roy apparently "fears the spotlight will be truly back on her, Jay Z, and Beyonce if these conversations end up online."
