Iggy Azalea offers up an explanation as to why she cancelled her "Great Escape" tour.

The other week appeared to be a bit of a rough patch for Australian-bred artist Iggy Azalea. After a petition demanded the retraction of her Best Rap Song award from the BMAs, news circulated that she had cancelled her impending tour entirely. The stadium tour, which would have been her first, had already suffered a bit after acts like Tinashe dropped out.

This week has already vastly improved from last week, as the announcement of Iggy's engagement to basketball player Nick Young arrived today. Although Iggy has definitely withdrawn from the public eye since her constant venting on social media/plastic surgery rumors, she wrote an open letter of sorts for Seventeen, where she explains why she decided to axe "The Great Escape." She cited a few reasons, including wanting to work on a new sound, wanting to enjoy some free time, and not being able to find suitable replacement acts.

"I've had a different creative change of heart. I want to start totally anew, and if I stayed on my tour, that would mean I wouldn't even be able to start working on that until after Christmas," she starts. "On top of that, mentally, to be honest with you, I just feel I deserve a break. I've been going non-stop for the past two years, nearly every single day. I'm not in a bad place ... I need a break to figure out what I want my sound to progress to, and I need a break to figure out how I want my visuals to progress."

She continued later, "Once I postponed [the tour the first time], I couldn't find two opening acts. I began the search, and to be honest, I never found someone who was available on those dates that I thought was a good fit for the tour."
