In these click-driven times, it's hard to make a level-headed critique of another artist without it being spun as a "beef".
Last month, Travi$ Scott released "3500," the lead single from his upcoming debut album, RODEO, which featured a collection of well respected artists, all of which hail from Atlanta. ATL rapper OG Maco found the move a bit peculiar for someone from Houston, and tweeted out a few thoughts on the song, arguing that even as a fan, he was not impressed with an artist essentially poaching a sound, using a handful of the biggest artists from the scene (Future, 2 Chainz, Metro Boomin, and Zaytoven) to do so.
In a new interview with HOT 97, Maco elaborated on his tweets, once again bringing up the fact that he is a "Huge fan" of Travis and that they have "no beef" (he even made sure to show that his last SoundCloud like was Scott's recent release, "Antidote").
"I don't think that it's impressive for one of the best artists in the game to link with two of the other best artists in the game, and then pull two of the best producers in the game," he said, implying that Scott is capable of more. "If you gave anyone who had any aspirations of being an artist that exact same base, anybody would make a hit. I think it's less impressive when you're doing that with artists that are not from your city."
