Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, OutKast & LL Cool J cover XXL's special edition “40 years of hip-hop”.

In celebration of 40 years of hip hop, XXL is releasing five collector's edition cover issues of their magazine this month. The rappers that are being featured include Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Outkast, Snoop Dogg, & LL Cool J.

The new issue will feature a variety of topics including one on YG and DJ Mustard’s new movement, and another on the success of Tech N9ne’s Strange Music in 2013. However, one of the more cooler things about the upcoming issue, aside from the covers, is that XXL decided to list the 10 most important albums and songs per year over the past 40 years (1973-2013). This should be rather interesting to check out.

The issue hits stands nationally on the last day of the year, Dec. 31st 2013.

Check out the classic covers in the gallery above.
