Illustrious film composer Ennio Morricone has come out and accused American filmmaker Quentin Tarantino of blatant unoriginality. The two men worked together on Quention's 2015 film The Hateful Eight, with Morricone producing the film's musical score, something he's done for almost half-a-century now. In theory, for theft to occur (from a creative standpoint), credit must be withheld - and that's exactly what Morricone is accusing Tarantino of doing in an exclusive interview with Playboy.
"The man is a cretin. He only steals from others and puts stuff back together again. There’s nothing original about that. That doesn’t make him a director," the 90-year-old composer told Playboy Magazine. "He is nothing compared with the Hollywood greats, such as John Huston, Alfred Hitchcock or Billy Wilder. They had class. Tarantino simply recooks old dishes."

Morricone went on to describe Tarantino as an "absolutely chaotic" director to work under, and I do specify "under" as the sentiment the 90-year-old composer is trying to convey. Back in 2013, Ennio complained that Quentin Tarantino placed music in his films, often out of sequence. His exact words: "(Tarantino) places music in his films without coherence." But alas, they would together two years later, likely for the last time.
