99% is just a more achievable goal to reach.

The latest addition in Eminem's string of dad selfies comes in the form of a video showing him and his "friend Paul Rosenberg," the co-founder of Shady Records, speaking about how hard the rap legend should go during his set at the Firefly Music Festival. The Delaware festival was full of must-see acts from Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne to SZA and Trippie Redd but, as always, Eminem brought out one of the biggest crowds of the festival for his show. While he usually provides an abundance of energy on stage, passionately rapping along to his most famous songs, it will surprise people to hear that he rarely gives his 100%. Before you get all up in arms, read his very understandable explanation below.

Backstage at Firefly over the weekend, Em told Paul Rosenberg that he would be giving his set 99% of his effort on Saturday night, saying that that gives him enough room "to build off of." The rapper explained, "If you just come out and give it 100% right off the bat, where do you go from there? You kinda fuck yourself." Anybody who's seen Shady's live set can attest to the fact that he goes hard on stage. Whether or not it's in his mind to keep things at a consistent 99% while performing, it definitely seems as though he goes above and beyond each performance.

Now, about those gunshot sound effects though...
