According to The Verge, Instagram has now begun to assimilate a "recommended for you" section into the feeds of its millions of users. Additionally, Instagram has also updated their help website to include the recommendation feature, effectively confirming this new adjustment to the ever-developing media app.

As early as last week, Instagram confirmed that it was in the trial phases of implementing this new feature, which was designed to showcase posts your friends have recently liked, or what the company's algorithm system has chosen as a post that may be of interest to its user.

Speaking to TechCrunch, a spokesperson for Instagram notes that these posts will only appear once a user has seen all the new posts from people they actually follow. However, the recommendations that do not come from accounts a user is actively following may be subject to criticism, something Instagram experienced when they introduced an algorithmic feed last year.

In the meantime, the feature cannot be actively turned off; however, when looking at the company's help page, instructions are given on how to temporarily hide the feature from populating your feed. This feature is now available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Just recently, Instagram also introduced a feature where a user can now follow hashtags alongside the more traditional user account, which helps to personalize a feed to an individual's specific interests.
