Drake has one less thing to worry about, now that a judge has dismissed the assault lawsuit that was filed against him by his former producer and collaborator, Noel Fisher, aka "Detail."
Calabasas Patch has reported that Judge Elaine Lu tossed out the case after Detail failed to show up to a final status conference last Friday.
The suit originally stemmed from an alleged incident back in 2014. In the suit, Detail claims that he was invited to Drake's Calabasas house only to be greeted by his body guard, Nessell Beezer, aka "Chubbs." Chubbs then proceeded to punch Detail in the face, breaking his jaw. Drake allegedly watched the whole thing from a few feet away, and did nothing to intervene. Chubbs has maintained that he acted purely in self-defense.
The listed reason for the beating was that Drake wanted Detail to exclusively produce for him, and was angry that Detail refused, prompting him to invite Detail over only to have his body guard assault him.
Detail has a long production history, making beats for Wiz Khalifa's "We Dem Boyz," Lil Wayne's "How To Love," and Jay Z and Beyonce's "Drunk In Love," which he won a Grammy for. He also produced several tracks for Drake's Nothing Was The Same album, including "Own It" and "305 to My City," on which he's credited as a featured artist.
Drake has a lot going on right now. Between working on his new album and dropping racks on Fortnite streams, he doesn't have time to deal with an assault lawsuit.
