The rapper says she's noticing resentment among longtime friends, leaving Cardi B questioning who genuinely wants to see her succeed.

Sharing good news has apparently become a complicated experience for Cardi B. She now says some of the people closest to her aren't particularly happy about her success. The rapper believes jealousy has strained relationships she once trusted, and she's beginning to question how much access those people should have to her life.

During an Instagram Live on Tuesday (Oct. 27), Cardi reflected on the lessons she's still learning at 34. Despite reaching new heights in her career, she explained that she's become increasingly suspicious of people who appear supportive but privately resent her accomplishments. She even described feeling uncomfortable discussing a new business contract because she worries about how certain friends might react. "Being successful, it is so scary. You just don't know who got that secret animosity for you," she said.

Cardi emphasized that her frustrations weren't directed at strangers criticizing her online. She was talking about people who've been around her for years, some of whom she believes deliberately try to humble her. Although she didn't name anyone, she said their behavior was starting to affect her personality.

Cardi B Says She's Becoming Colder Toward People Around Her

The conversation grew considerably darker as Cardi described her anger. She insisted that she wasn't feeling depressed or sad, but acknowledged that she was becoming increasingly mean toward people she believed had wronged her. "I'm starting to feel like I'm becoming an evil villain," she admitted, explaining that the frustration had made her want to withdraw from relationships altogether.

She also entertained the idea of changing her phone number and distancing herself from people. What seemed to bother her most was the possibility that someone could accept her friendship while quietly rooting against her. At one point, a viewer asked whether she was seeing a therapist. Cardi responded that she hadn't attended therapy in some time and wasn't interested in returning, instead expressing her anger through a profane statement wishing death on the people upsetting her. She also spoke about having violent thoughts when dwelling on perceived betrayals, although she didn't identify a specific target or describe a plan to hurt anyone.

The remarks come as Cardi continues to enjoy the commercial success of her sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, and her 2026 Little Miss Drama Tour. Her career accomplishments prompted the conversation, but she gave no indication of which personal relationships had deteriorated.

Rather than go to sleep and continue thinking about the situation, Cardi said she planned to keep herself occupied with exercise. As Complex reported, she told viewers that sitting alone with her thoughts could lead her to dwell on revenge, so she planned to return to squats.
