Anthony Edwards arrived for the Timberwolves’ home opener in a very comfortable pair of shoes. Ant showed up to Target Center wearing the Adidas Anthony Edwards 3 Mule.
The pair is a backless slip-on version of his latest signature shoe. It takes the sculpted design of the AE 3 and turns it into an off-court recovery shoe.
The foam body has wavy cutouts along the sides, which give it the same aggressive look as the basketball version. Edwards’ personal logo also sits on the tongue area.
It uses full-length Hyperboost cushioning, which Adidas says gives more energy return than the Lightstrike Pro foam. A wide ankle opening makes it easy to put on after a game.
The mule retails for $69.99, and it comes in several colors, including grey and a bright “Bliss Blue.”
A strong night followed for Edwards. He scored 26 points in 27 minutes as Minnesota beat Toronto 117 to 94. LaMelo Ball also made his Target Center debut, and the Timberwolves improved to 3-0.
Overall, it was a great way to show off a recovery shoe while the team looked unbeatable. It also keeps Adidas in the center of the conversation around Ant.
Anthony Edwards' Adidas AE3 Mule
Edwards has been a major focus for Adidas this season. The brand launched the Anthony Edwards 3 in September with a funny ad that roasted LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, and Jalen Brunson.
That campaign has continued with the MINNATLANTASOTA series, which began on Sunday and features Hasan Minhaj as Ant’s official insider.
The AE 3 line is also expanding beyond the court. The mule adds a lifestyle option for fans who want something simple to wear every day.
Mules and slides have become a big part of basketball sneaker lines. They offer a lower price and an easier way into a player’s brand. Overall, the AE 3 Mule is a small detail, but it shows how much of the culture around Edwards has grown.
