DJ Akademiks has made his Drake fandom no secret over the years, and he finally linked up with him earlier this year for the ICEMAN stream. Now, he has an OVO chain to show their bond. In fact, it's something the streamer and commentator sometimes uses as a bit of a first impression when courting women on social media.
He recently and jokingly revealed this during a Derek King livestream caught by DJ Akademiks TV on Instagram. Akademiks had attended the Brand Risk Promotions event in Miami over the weekend with the owl chain, and he was asked if he ever sends pictures of the chain to women via DMs to impress them.
"No, no... I don't do that," he remarked. "But I'll be honest. I got to make sure I don't put too many posts on the page after that. I'll archive the joint. I ain't gon' lie, I got a couple of, 'Is that AI?' No, b***h, this real. Hold on, now, let's get into the DMs. Now we here. But I'm not going to send them, that's kind of corny. When they click on the page, I ain't going to lie to you, sometimes I DM low-key chicks. So they might not really know me like that. So they click on the page, they be like, 'Oh, s**t, it's you and Drake.'"
Drake & DJ Akademiks
DJ Akademiks stays in touch with Drake often, whether directly or by commenting on his many moves and characteristics. Recently, he's claimed to know Drizzy's monthly salary, predicted what his status with UMG is, and previewed the much-anticipated tour for his 2026 projects.
Of course, comments like these will always lead to critical responses from fans calling out "glazing" or clowning the proximity. But Ak is clearly down to flaunt the bond and joke about the Internet status it's given him.
Elsewhere, DJ Akademiks is not as kind to other artists, as he continues to go after folks like Lil Baby following months, if not years, of feuding online. For one reason or another, he always has an icebreaker in the DMs from his many antics and escapades as a dominant media force.
