Offset is facing a possible default judgment in MotorCity Casino Hotel’s lawsuit over an alleged $100,000 gambling debt. According to Casino.org, a court has directed the Detroit casino to pursue a default after Offset failed to respond to the complaint. But the case has not reached a final judgment, and Offset has not been found liable.
The $200,000 figure reflects the casino’s potential claim under Michigan’s bad-check law. This allows plaintiffs to seek double the unpaid amount, plus legal fees.
The lawsuit dates back to a March 2024 visit. MotorCity says Offset opened a $100,000 line of credit for gambling. The casino alleges that he signed a marker tied to his personal checking account, allowing it to collect the balance directly. When MotorCity tried to withdraw the money, the payment allegedly bounced because the account did not have enough funds. The casino sued in March 2026, accusing him of breach of contract, fraud and violating Michigan’s bad-check law.
Offset Faces Possible Default Judgement
The procedural update is serious, but it does not mean Offset has already lost the case. According to the reported court order, a judge found he had been properly served but had not filed an answer. MotorCity was told to pursue an entry of default and submit a motion for default judgment, with an October 23 deadline.
The lawsuit landed back in the conversation after video surfaced of Offset arguing with staff at a high-limit blackjack table in Paris. In the clip, he says he was betting between $10,000 and $20,000 per hand and claims he had won $200,000. He appears upset that other players were allowed to use a seat he considered his. The video quickly drew comparisons to the Detroit case. However, Offset reportedly later described the Paris exchange as a skit tied to his upcoming album. He has not explained how much of the scene was staged or whether the casino staff knew they were part of a promotion.
The timing also overlaps with Offset’s GMFU rollout. He announced the album for October 23, and “Every Night,” his new song with Don Toliver, arrived October 8. The Paris clip may have been designed to get people talking about the project, but the MotorCity case is a separate legal matter with its own next steps. For now, the court has not issued a final judgment, and the casino still has to pursue its motion.
