A longtime friendship remains intact as Too $hort says he’ll attend Diddy’s homecoming and offers advice for life after prison.

Diddy already has at least one familiar face planning to show up whenever the welcome-home party happens. During an appearance on The TMZ Podcast, Too Short said he fully intends to celebrate the Bad Boy founder’s release from federal prison. “I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party,” he said, while also arguing that he doesn't believe Diddy should be incarcerated for the conduct that ultimately led to his conviction.

His support comes with a clear exception. Too Short said the 2016 hotel surveillance footage showing Diddy physically assaulting Cassie Ventura was unacceptable, separating what was captured on camera from the sexual conduct examined during Diddy’s federal case. He also said that throughout the years he spent around the mogul, he never witnessed the kind of activity described during the trial. He stated his memories of Diddy’s parties involved music, weed, and people enjoying themselves.

Diddy was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The jury acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, and he was later sentenced to 50 months in federal prison. The Los Angeles Times recently reported that Bureau of Prisons records list his projected release date as January 21, 2028. However, a new investigation into his alleged VIP life in prison may change that.

Too Short Thinks Diddy Should Keep His Comeback Low-Key

Planning to attend the celebration does not mean Too $hort thinks Diddy should immediately jump back into public life. He suggested that the mogul should move carefully after prison rather than trying to force a major comeback before seeing how people respond.

Short Dogg pointed to Bill Cosby’s attempt to announce a comedy tour after his own release from prison as an example of what Diddy might want to avoid. His advice was to read the room first. He even offered a much quieter alternative, joking that Diddy could move to Bali and spend time with Russell Simmons.
