More bad press has hit the media cycle this week for Rick Ross. This time, it's for allegedly bailing on a pair of concerts in North Carolina. According to Courthouse News, Omega14 Incorporated filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross, Maybach Music Group, and his touring company for allegedly canceling the final stops of the Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Orchestra Tour at the last minute.
Ross was booked for Greensboro and Charlotte, NC, and, per Omega14’s filing, required to perform for at least an hour at each stop. Moreover, Omega14 said that the contract limited canceling the performances only to “severe injury or death.”
Omega14 said Maybach Music Group manager Tawanda Roberts told them at 1 p.m. on the day of the Greensboro concert that he “refused to perform” that show and the one in Charlotte the following day. Ultimately, they said that they weren’t reimbursed for the expenses attached to the show, such as venue booking, production management, marketing, lodging, transportation, and more.
Rick Ross Sued Over Missed Concerts
Omega14 said that they weren’t provided with a concrete explanation for the cancellation, even after spending $261,000 in expenses and lost profits. However, the company also said that Ross performed in Orlando and Miami Beach on the days he was scheduled to perform in North Carolina, claiming his actions were “inconsistent with an inability to perform caused by severe injury or illness.”
“Rick Ross and defendants engaged in conduct that was unethical, unscrupulous, and substantially injurious to consumers and businesses including but not limited to plaintiff, the numerous orchestral musicians, choir members and venue operators,” Omega14 said in its complaint.
The lawsuit comes a few days after his ex-girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick accused him of physically abusing her. Kendrick alleged that he left her with an injured lip and used her as a “punching bag.”
Ross has not publicly responded to the lawsuit or Kendrick’s allegations.
