Rick Ross has reportedly been arrested by Miami-Dade County police and subsequently charged with two forms of battery.

Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami and subsequently charged with felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery, according to TMZ. The arrest took place on Thursday morning, with the artist currently being held on $5000 bond for the felony charge and $1000 bond for the misdemeanor.

According to an update from TMZ, Rick Ross actually surrendered himself to the police. He was accused by a former girlfriend of hitting her on August 28, stemming from an alleged jealous rage. The woman claims Ross took issue with a photo she was tagged in on social media.

Subsequently, Ross allegedly slapped her, and then struck her every time she denied being in a secret relationship with another man. The woman also alleges that she was choked and slammed into a wall as Ross grabbed her ponytail.

These allegations were made to police in a phone call on Tuesday, and are consistent with the account given by Jazzma Kendrick over the weekend. However, police have not confirmed if the alleged victim is, indeed, Kendrick.
