Rick Ross turned himself in to police on Thursday morning in Miami-Dade County. He has been charged with felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. The artist has already pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The artist has run into a hiccup while trying to expedite his release from the county jail. While Ross will be able to make bond, totalling $6000, Judge Mindy Glazer has no interest in giving the artist special treatment.
In a court hearing this morning, Ross' lawyer said that the rapper is a celebrity. Judge Glazer did not hold back upon hearing that statement. “I have no idea who you are," she said before revealing how Ross will be treated just like everyone else.
Rick Ross Arrest
According to TMZ, Ross' attorneys Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein have delivered a statement on the matter. They claim that Ross is being "wrongfully accused." They also said that Ross wants fans to withhold judgment until they've heard more about the case.
"William Roberts II, professionally known as Rick Ross, is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear,' the lawyer said. "The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place. Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course."
The woman has accused Rick Ross of allegedly hitting her numerous times during a jealous rage. She also alleges that she was thrown into a wall and choked.
