Future is one of our living legends at this point, with a catalog that most artists today can't touch. But some hardcore fans weren't very fond of his latest album The Real Me, which came out earlier this year. If you are one of those Pluto fans, don't fret. At least you can now enjoy his first mixtapes on streaming services.
The Atlanta rapper surprised and overjoyed his die-hards by releasing some of his 2010 and 2011 projects on digital streaming platforms like Spotify. It's the first time they've appeared on these platforms, and it's a great opportunity for longtime listeners to reminisce and for newer ones to find out what they've been missing.
More specifically, these mixtapes are the iconic Dirty Sprite from 2011, which followed 2010's 1000 and Kno Mercy. Those are now on streaming services as well, along with 2011's True Story and Streetz Calling.
While this is very exciting, collectors and "completionists" will note this doesn't fill out all of Hendrix's vast catalog on streaming services. For example, we're still waiting on Free Bricks with Gucci Mane and FDU & Freebandz: Reloaded with Stuey Rock. But when it comes to solo work, pretty much all the bases are now covered.
Is Future Dropping Another Album?
What's more is that Future might have more music on the way after these mixtape drops on streaming and the release of The Real Me. He teased another project just a few weeks after dropping his latest LP, although he didn't give fans a release timeline for it. It was also a very vague tease, so it's probably more of a general "I'm still working" declaration rather than any rollout preparations or anything like that.
Still, Future remains in high demand despite The Real Me disappointing some fans. After all, folks still went wild for him when he popped out at Ye's recent Chicago homecoming show. So maybe the mix of the old and the new is what will sustain an even bigger 2026 than what fans originally expected.
In fact, that mix of old and new has been something Future has always dominated in his artistry. So if you haven't checked out the original Dirty Sprite and the other mixtapes, take this as your sign to dive in.
