Official images have surfaced of the Air Jordan 8 "Chrome," giving fans their clearest look yet ahead of its release. The pair is coming very soon, with a confirmed drop date of August 29th for a retail of $215.
Black leather covers most of the upper, keeping the base clean and true to the model's original construction. A chrome-finished strap wraps the ankle, catching light in a way that's become the signature detail of this colorway. Grey detailing runs along the heel, paired with a matching grey midsole underfoot.
This marks the shoe's first retro in over a decade. It originally released back in 2003 before returning briefly in 2015, a run best remembered for Kobe Bryant wearing the colorway during that year's playoffs.
The strap itself has always been the standout feature of the Air Jordan 8, and these new images make that hardware look even sharper up close. It's a small detail, but one that separates this model from nearly every other shoe in Jordan Brand's lineup.
Full family sizing is expected at launch through Nike SNKRS and select retailers. With official images now out, expect more detailed looks to follow as the release date gets closer.
Air Jordan 8 “Chrome”
The "Chrome" 8 carries weight beyond just its design. Kobe famously laced up the pair during Los Angeles's 2015 postseason run, tying the colorway directly to one of his most memorable playoff stretches.
That connection has helped keep demand high over the years, even without regular retail availability. Original pairs from both the 2003 and 2015 releases have stayed sought-after among collectors chasing anything tied to Kobe's on-court history.
The Air Jordan 8 itself doesn't get nearly as many retros as some of Jordan's other numbered models. That relative scarcity makes any "Chrome" return feel like a bigger event within the sneaker community.
With official images now confirmed, this release is shaping up to be one of the more anticipated Jordan Brand drops of the fall season.
