The trial of Keefe D is underway in Las Vegas, and it feels as though we’re close to seeing a resolution in one of America’s longest-running cold cases. However, that doesn’t mean that certain theories aren’t still floating around. Former Death Row Records security chief Reggie Wright Jr. is pushing back against renewed allegations that he helped arrange Tupac Shakur’s killing.
Per All Hip-Hop, Wright says the accusations, which have circulated for years, are unsupported and insists he had no role in the September 1996 shooting. He also disputes suggestions that he and Davis shared a longstanding relationship. According to Wright, although he was familiar with Davis’s name during his years in law enforcement, the two did not actually meet until much later, when they encountered one another outside a Southern California grocery store
“He walked up and said, ‘Hey, little Reg, you know who I am?’ And I looked at him and pretty much said, ‘Oh.’ And he introduced himself as Keefe D from Compton Southside, and I laughed. It was funny to me. I asked him, ‘They still allow you to claim Compton knowing that all the allegations and the snitching that he had done?' He was pretty much talking, running his mouth while he was in jail then,” Wright told TMZ.

Wright also says he was not present at the MGM Grand on the night Tupac and Death Row founder Marion “Suge” Knight became involved in a confrontation with Orlando Anderson, Davis’s nephew, which has been viewed as a central catalyst to the drive-by shooting.
The allegations against Wright gained traction through the theories of former LAPD detective Russell Poole, who investigated the case and argued that individuals connected to Death Row may have played a role. Wright points out that, despite the speculation, he has never been charged by law enforcement in connection with Tupac’s death. We will keep you posted on further updates.
