Back in 2024, Drake and Kendrick Lamar engaged in the rap battle to end all rap battles. It started with "Like That," and it ended with Drake going out with a whimper on the song "The Heart Part 6." In between that, we got some epic tracks like "Push Ups," "Euphoria," "Family Matters," "Not Like Us," and of course, "Meet The Grahams."
During this time, there were various other artists coming at Drake. Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, Future, Metro Boomin, and The Weeknd were all seemingly on board with the battle. This led to Drake declaring the situation a 20v1.
Over the weekend, Drizzy was engaged in a different kind of 20v1. As part of the Stake ninth anniversary stream, he did a 20v1 dating show, which featured appearances from Lily Phillips, Lena The Plug, and many others.
After the event, Drake took to social media, where he offered a recap of the night, saying, "My second 20 V 1 was almost as lit as the first..”
Drake Was Having Flashbacks
This is a rare admission from Drake as it pertains to his battle against Kendrick. Overall, when you read between the lines, it appears as though the Canadian megastar believes he won the war. He also seems to believe that it was actually a fun time for him.
These kinds of comments are in stark contrast to his moves behind the scenes. For instance, his lawsuit against UMG is a perfect example of how the artist felt slighted by what went down. In his mind, the entire battle was a coordinated attack by the label system to take him from his number one spot.
For him to now come out and say that the whole battle was "lit" appears a bit disingenuous. That said, these kinds of comments rally his fanbase behind him, and if there is one thing he's good at, it's getting his fans to buy in on what he's selling.
